Class Description
Defensive Pistol is the “finish line” for this specific curriculum series, but not for your firearm journey as a whole! Continue to build your skills and understanding as you add more advanced layers of knowledge to your repertoire. You can look forward to learning new techniques, such as:

  • Shooting on the Move
  • Avoid, Escape, and Defend
  • Use of Force
  • Cover versus Concealment
  • Voice Commands
  • Marksmanship versus Defensive Shooting
  • Drawing from the Holster
  • Loading and Reloading
  • Practice with a Purpose
  • Acquiring the right mindset for self-defense with a firearm

This Women’s Defensive Pistol Class is for women only. During this class you will continue to build your skills and understanding as you add more advanced layers of knowledge to your repertoire.

Students should already be conversant in the safe handling and firing of a hand gun (such as completing Level 1 – Women’s Basic Pistol Shooting and Level 2 – Women’s Intermediate Pistol Shooting).

One of the biggest takeaways of this course is an understanding of the differences between marksmanship and defensive shooting, and how the proper physical and emotional states will determine if you’re prepared to perform the latter.

This course is a good fit for ladies who want to further their skills with a handgun for home or personal protection or are considering carrying a handgun for self-defense.

This advanced pistol class is a defensive handgun course for those who want to further their skills with a handgun or are considering carrying a handgun for self-defense. This is not a basic firearm course. Students must already have an understanding of safe gun handling and be proficient with their firearm. The class covers firearm safety, range safety and personal safety. We practice basic handling, operation, reloading, malfunction clearances and shooting skills with training guns “dry” in the classroom. The course concludes with live-fire demonstration of skills learned through various shooting drills on the range.

Curriculum Description
In the final module of the series, Beth Alcazar introduces the student to a number of advanced topics, skills and drills. Topics include a detailed explanation of what students should know avoiding, escaping, and defending against an attacker, and even what the student should know about their obligations under the law when it comes to the legal right to use force. Alcazar then explains and demonstrates a number of methods of drawing a firearm including from a holster or from a handbag. Three different types of reload methods are demonstrated, and the student is introduced to what they should expect, and what they should know when visiting a live fire range for the first time, including a number of important range commands. This lesson is also concluded with a number of on and off the range drills, including learning how to use cover and concealment, and even how to shoot on the move.
